GIS Department

The Geographic Information System (GIS) Department operates under the Apache County Engineering Department to oversee the maintenance, development, and administration of all geographic information within Apache County.

Our Responsibilities

GIS Department responsibilities include E-911 support, mapping application development and maintenance, government and citizen map requests, and the creation and maintenance of political boundaries, roads, parcels, and more. GIS mapping data retrieval is subject to fees.

What is GIS Mapping

We use the Apache County GIS online mapping system to easily locate, identify, and inventory land parcels in Apache County. A geographic information system (GIS) is a system of gathering, managing, and analyzing data.

GIS integrates many location-based data (tabular data, imagery, planning documents, legal descriptions, etc.) into layers on a map. This provides unique insights into the patterns and relationships of the data, which we can apply many ways, from location information to problem identification and to monitor changes, manage and respond to events, and set priorities and tasks.
